Hopefully you are now used to the basic tools in pixinsight and are looking to improve your images even more

So these tutorials contains slightly more advanced subjects.

I will still not be going into to huge detail , just giving you idea what you can do

  • Star mask 1
    Right click on image and "save target as" to download video

    Here I am going to show how to create a simple star mask and how to use it with HDR wavlets ( to stop star inversion )and Morphological Transformation ( to reduce star sizes)

     

    There are many other uses of masks in Pixinsight , these 2 uses are just the start for you

  • Star masks for linear images
    Right click on image and "save target as" to download video

    In this video we will making a star mask for a linear image.

    You can then use this mask in processes like decon

  • Process & Image container

    Here I have look at how we can use the process and image containers to do the following

     

    1) Apply a process to multiple images

    2) Apply multiple process's to a single image

    3) Apply multiple process's to many images

     

  • Adding Ha to RGB

  • Sective Colour Saturation

  • Local Histogram Equalization

    A simple to use tool which will give your image more contrast

    Commonly used after stretching and or use of HDR wavlets

  • Noise Reduction with Atrous wavlets

    Using Atrous wavelets to do noise reduction helps
    avoid the dreaded lumps at large scales

  • HDR Composition

    This is the tool that you would use to replace Saturated Data with non saturated Data from another image.

    This has been commonly done with Layers in Photoshop
    but this is so much better and believe or not EASIER
  • Comet stacking and star field replacement
    Right click on image and "save target as" to download video
    In this video Iwill show you how to

    1) create a stacked image of a comet

    2) replace the trailed stars in the comet image with a untrained set of stars

    Pixinsight's Latest noise reduction tool
    very powerful , but slightly fidaley to get the right settings

    Here I show you how to use it with non linear Images
  • Alignment and Stacking

    here are two tools for aligning images and integration.( Stacking )

    Both of these tool are very fast and effective.

    I have found the integration tool to give a star FWHM 10 % better on non saturated stars than any other program I have used

    It is more common now to use the Integration module to fine tune your settings after using the batch processing script

  • Masked Stetch

    A relative newcomer to the PI stable , this tool enables controlled stretching of a image while preventing saturated areas and in particular stars


    so here we look at how to get the correct settings
    and how to use this data
